From 2012-2018, the Mass Mobilization in Autocracies Database project was supported by a Sofja Kovalevskaja Award for Nils B. Weidmann from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
Since 2018, the project is support by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of project #402127652.
We kindly acknowledge the effort of our coders in Konstanz.
For MMAD Version 1.0, several countries in the MENA region were coded by a team at the Department of Political Science, University of Zurich (led by Fabrizio Gilardi and Dumitru Ciocan).
Kudos to Lukas Kawerau, who has been the project’s technical administrator from the very beginning. Among many other things, he developed the online coding interface in Python/Django. This online coding interface has since been re-written from scratch by Stefan Scholz, and Sebastian Nagel developed a new classifier for the pre-filtering of news reports.
